We're two weeks away from kickoff of the 2007 Auburn Football Season...We've recieved our season tickets and look forward to one more Fall in Auburn...I plan on going to as many games as possible...Let's take a look at the schedule and my predictions...
First of all, I really like having a three year senior starting QB going into the season...Hopefully Brandon Cox can stay healthy, because we all know how bad he can be if not...Running Backs -- loaded and deep again...Defense should be very, very good - Quentin Groves at D-End, some experience in the Secondary, and possibly the best linebacker in the SEC, Tray Blackmon...The problem -- Kicking Game and Offensive Line...I see a lot of talent on this team, but some brutal road games could serve as the ultimate test...
Here's how I see it playing out...
September 1, 2007 -- Kansas State
Much anticipated season opens with a night non-conference game on ESPN...Kansas State returns 13 starters off a team that went 7-5 in 2006...I think Auburn has too much ground control and defensive speed for K State...Not going to be impressive...Auburn by 7 with a few missed FG's
September 8, 2007 -- South Florida
This game is really, really scary...South Florida returns 15 starters, including the Big East Rookie of the Year - QB, Matt Grothe...the type of QB that gives Auburn fits...in 2006 he threw for over 2500 yards and was the teams leading rusher in yards and scores...USF beat West Virginia and East Carolina to finish out 06 in fine fashion...We also know how Auburn does not do very well in early non-conference games under Tuberville...South Florida wins this one by a field goal...time to re-group and start SEC play
September 15, 2007 -- Mississippi State
Another early morning JP game...Auburn controls this one from the kickoff...wins by 17+
September 22, 2007 -- New Mexico State
Starters should only have to play a half in this game...Get some young guys experience, keep everyone healthy, and get ready for a showdown at the Swamp...Auburn wins big
September 29, 2007 -- @ Florida
I'm really looking forward to this game...This will be my first time going to "The Swamp"...Florida has too many question marks...I'm sure their loaded with young talent and Urban Meyer is a great coach, but home field is the only thing going for the Gators in ths game... Auburn plays well in Gainseville and the offense should be ready to play...I'm predicting play action and young Auburn receivers going off in a big way...Auburn by two touchdowns and I will be prepared to be wearing someone's beer...chomp, chomp
October 6, 2007 -- Vanderbilt
Vandy has 17 returning starters...that should be enough, with the hang over from the Florida win, to stay within in a touchdown most of this game...Auburn pulls away late and wins by 17
October 13, 2007 -- @ Arkansas
This lines up to be a huge road game for Auburn...could make or break a season...we have to stop their running game and throw the ball to win...that's been easier said than done for Auburn against Arkansas...Tuberville always has problems in Fayetteville...This will be Brandon Cox's coming out game - he sure is do for one...I'm giving this one to Auburn, but look what's coming next
October 20, 2007 -- @ LSU
This has been the best game of Auburn's schedule the past few years...Two powerhouses on top of their games...good coaching and talent all over the field...Playing for the SEC West division...I'm sure this will be a night televised game in the middle of uneducated chaos, also known as LSU Fans...LSU has way too much depth and wins this low scoring defensive battle...After several previous trips I will not be going down to the Bayou for this one...I wish this one would have been a little earlier on the schedule...LSU 20, Auburn 10
October 27, 2007 -- Ole Miss
I don't see Ole Miss scoring very much in this game...perhaps, not at all...Auburn is glad to be back home and will beat Ole Miss like their tied to the whipping post...Quntien Groves can pin back his ears and let out some frustration on QB Brent Schaeffer...the worst starting QB in the SEC...the only thing worth watching at Ole Miss this year is the cheerleading squad...always top notch...Auburn 31, Ole Miss 3
November 3, 2007 -- Tennessee Tech
Finally, an off week...rest the starters for the final UGA/Bama stretch...Auburn wins big...Anyone want 2 tickets for this one
November 10, 2007 -- @ Georgia
This will be the second road game I'll be attending...First time in Athens...With that being said and after pulling out the victory in the Swamp...I'm not lucky enough to see two big road wins in the same season...UGA pulls it off late in a close, close game...Sorry for all you Auburn fans living in Georgia...Get ready to hear from "those fans"
November 24, 2007 -- Alabama
Can Auburn make it 6 in a row...Nothing like a late November rivalry with what will be highly anticipated game for the Tide fans...Saban vs Tuberville...Groves vs Wilson...I think Auburn wins, but this could be the last time for awhile...Auburn 26, Bama 17
