I'm home alone this week so now is a better time than most to update the blog. It's been so long I've almost forgotten how. First I must say this has been my busiest summer, yet. I can still remember those days back in middle school and high school with nothing to do in the summers. Oh, here's a toast to the days of no responsibilities. What's been going on? Well my job situation has changed a bit and I am now president of my own company, ALACO, Inc. (Katherine came up with the name -- combination of Alabama and Colorado, which obviously is a huge part of who I am.) As luck would have it, I guess I fell into a nice segment of the logistics industry and specialize in packing/moving/transporting used electronic equipment emphasizing remarket value and recycling under environmental regulations. Sounds like fun, huh? I've been fortunate enough to build some great relationships in the industry through prior jobs and work with large carriers to small recycling companies to OEM's such as Dell.
Last week's trip to Panama City was very last minute. I had a work project came up to remove 2000 computers from 12 schools in NW Florida (basically Destin, Ft Walton Beach, and Niceville). This was a great oppurtunity to take the family to my Dad's condo in PC Beach. I worked most of the week and relaxed on the weekend. Katherine had fun getting away and Zeke ate everything he saw.
Katherine and Zeke left from the beach to head up for her summer visit with family and friends in Maryland. I came back to Denver for week before flying out to Maryland this Saturday because I miss my wife and boy. We'll both come back to Denver the following Sunday. On a side note - my sister and fam sold their house in Baltimore in one day and just moved into their new house (closer to Wash DC), which is 3 miles from Katherine's moms house. Crazy, but very nice when visiting. Should results in more "family time" even though we live on the other side of the country.
End of August I go to Vail for the labor day "dude" weekend.
September we're going to the Auburn vs. LSU game, beach for a week (again), and then the Auburn vs. Tenn game to close out the weekend. We also look forward to spending several days with Andrew and Tara.
Long story short...we're not in high school anymore...Summers just aren't the same...
